Историк Николай Кузнецов делится воспоминаниями о том, как 20 лет назад коллектив авторов под руководством Ильи Глазунова создавал картину «Великий Китай». Завершить масштабное произведение (7,5х19,5 м) удалось к юбилейной дате – 55-летию установления дипломатических отношений России и Китая. Полотно состоит из трёх частей и посвящено прославлению истории Поднебесной: эпохи династии Цинь, Тан и современности. Работа изобилует многочисленными фигурами, элементами обстановки, пейзажа и поражает глубиной знаний о китайской культуре. В уточнении некоторых деталей на помощь художникам пришли китайские партнёры и сотрудники посольства России в Китае. После закрытой презентации в Москве и блистательного показа в Пекине картина вернулась в Россию, найдя свой дом в специально построенном для неё павильоне на территории экопарка «Юхновград» в Калужской области.

Ilya Glazunov’s “Great China” at Yukhnovgrad Ecopark

In this article, historian Nikolai Kuznetsov shares his recollections from 20 years ago of a group of artists led by Ilya Glazunov working on the large-scale painting “Great China” (7.5 x 19.5 m) that was completed by the date of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russian and China. The painting consists of three parts and is dedicated to the history of China: the periods of Qin and Tang dynasties and modern times, showing many figures and background and landscape elements and impressing the viewer by the depth of the knowledge of Chinese culture. Chinese partners and the staff of the Embassy of Russia in China had helped the artists to better underrate some details of their work. After a private presentation in Moscow and a brilliant demonstration in Beijing, the painting was returned to Russia, finding its home in a specially built pavilion at the Yukhnovgrad Ecopark in Kaluga Region.
