In Remembrance of Nina Getashvili

In this article, family and colleagues pay tribute to the memory of Nina Getashvili, Candidate of Art History, Professor at the General History of Art Faculty of the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, co-president of the Russian Branch of AICA, member of the board of the Russian Branch of the Association of Art Historians, Honorary Worker of Russian Higher Education, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and author of a multitude of research and popular science works on the theme of the history of art. Her daughter, associate professor at the Art Restoration Faculty of the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture provides a brief account of her life and notes that “Mother had time for so many things… It seems that she had lived ten lives”, but “work never diverted her from her family”; and recalls that Nina Getashvili was “an inherent part, an ideologically dedicated worker” of the Academy, known for her encyclopaedic knowledge and great inner culture. The chief editor of the Russian Art magazine feels deep sorrow at the loss of the unique author, councillor and friend, who lent a weighty contribution to the magazine’s development.
